Simon Cowell has hinted that this year’s X Factor could actually feature a Spice Girls vs Girls Aloud week.

Cowell reacted enthusiastically to the idea during a press launch for the new series last night (August 27), as he answered Twitter questions from fans of the ITV singing competition.

Replying to a fan’s suggestion that a Spice Girls vs Girls Aloud week should happen this year because both Cheryl Cole and Mel B now feature on the judging panel, Cowell agreed, saying: “Yeah, why not, I think that would be great.”

The forthcoming eleventh series of ITV’s singing competition sees the return of Cowell and Cole to the judging panel after a three-year absence – joined by show stalwart Louis Walsh and newcomer Mel B.

Mel B recently admitted that she isn’t sure the Spice Girls would have found success on a show like The X Factorfind out what she had to say here.

The X Factor returns to ITV on Saturday (August 30) at 8pm. Watch Cowell discuss the idea of a Spice Girls vs Girls Aloud week below.
