Adele teases Saturday Night Live hosting debut in cute clip – 12 years after first appearance

A new era beckons.

By Jamie Tabberer

Adele has appeared in a teaser video ahead of her Saturday Night Live hosting gig this weekend.

The Hello singer is joined by singer H.E.R. and Ghostbusters actress Kate McKinnon in the cute clip – which comes some 12 years after the star first appeared on the show.

Where does the time go?

“Hi, I’m Adele, and I’m hosting Saturday Night Live”

“Hi, I’m Adele, and I’m hosting Saturday Night Live this week with musical guest H.E.R.” says the 28-year-old in the clip, her Tottenham accent unmistakable.

Following some confusion over who exactly ‘her’ is – which, by the way, we’re interpreting to mean Adele will be also singing on the show – the girls do another take, with Kate attempting to imitate Adele, and vice versa.

The singer also teased the appearance in an Instagram photo of her seemingly studying a script, alongside the caption: “3 days to go”.

Adele first appeared on SNL on 18 October 2008 – an episode featuring an appearance by Republican politician Sarah Palin, and watched by 17 million viewers, offering the star huge exposure in the US.

She said in another recent Insta post: “It’ll be almost 12 years to the day that I first appeared on the show, during an election… which went on to break my career in America, so it feels full circle and I just couldn’t possibly say no!”

The pop icon has not released music since 25, which came out in 2015; her last single release was 2016’s Water Under the Bridge.
