Louis Vuitton brings art to life with its latest Automata timepiece
The Tambour Taiko Arty Automata turns timekeeping into a kinetic masterpiece
The intricate world of fine watchmaking is being turned on its head by Louis Vuitton. The latest release from its Geneva-based manufacture, La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, blurs the lines between horology and art.
Introducing the Tambour Taiko Arty Automata, a piece that transforms timekeeping into moving sculpture. Drawing on the brand’s long-standing history of artistic collaborations, the latest horological automaton is visual tapestry that does far more than simply tell the time.

A tiered dial of dynamic enamel motifs sits within the 42mm, 18K white gold case. Among them are Monogram Flowers with diamond pistils, 1970s-era sunburst tie-dye, and an eye with lashes made from real feathers that dance with movement.
The vibrant collage of colour evokes psychedelia and Art Nouveau, while echoing previous Louis Vuitton artist collaborations, including Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince.
Complementing the visual spectacle of 23 different shades of enamel are rubies and sapphires framing the bezel. The result is a rainbow spectrum in constant motion, brought to life through shifting components and light catching gems.

Still, aesthetics don’t play second fiddle to complications. Driving the piece is the in-house automatic Calibre LFT AU05.01, bringing the tableau to life with precision and rhythm. Mirroring the joyous scenes on the dial is a hand-decorated panel of curved clouds and sun rays that reveal the rotor.
Part horological feat, part wearable artwork, the Tambour Taiko Arty Automata stands as a museum-worthy timepiece. For collectors, it brings a vivid burst of colour and creativity to the wrist blurring the line between watchmaking and objet d’art
