BBC Newsreader Jane Hill to host European Diversity Awards

Gay BBC Newsreader Jane Hill will host the 2014 European Diversity Awards.
This year’s ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 2 at London’s Natural History Museum, with a total of 14 awards up for grabs.
The coveted Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented, as well as prizes for Company of the Year, Campaigner of the Year, Employee Network Group of the Year and Charity of the Year.
European Diversity Awards founder, Linda Riley, said that this year’s awards are even more significant following the passing of anti-gay laws in countries like Russia.
She said: “The draconian laws passed in Russia demonstrate why there is still a real need to celebrate the people and the organisations who actively work promote a society in which we can all live freely in mutual tolerance and respect. The European Diversity Awards pay tribute to those who strive to achieve just that.”
Hill added: “I urge the European public to get involved to help ensure the most deserving pick up a ‘diversity Oscar’ on the night.”
