Upcoming Spanish-language queer film A Few Feet Away explores gay hook-up culture in the digital age, arriving on streaming platforms on 25 May 2026.

Directed by Tadeo Pestaño Caro, the 89-minute film follows Santiago (Max Suen), a 20-year-old working in a data centre, as he explores his newfound identity through gay hook-up apps and visits to sex clubs.

Described as a “coming of age story”, A Few Feet Away invites audiences to reflect on the realities of modern dating and emotional disconnection, highlighting the contrast between easy access to sex and the lack of real intimacy.

A Few Feet Away premiered at the BFI Flare LGBTQIA+ Film Festival in March 2025

The film also features Jazmín Carballo (Karen), Esteban Kukuriczka (J), Martín Shanly (Luis), Manuel Figuerero (Simón), and others.

A Few Feet Away has it’s word premiere at the BFI Flare LGBTQIA+ Film Festival in March 2025, followed by its North American premiere at Reeling: the 43rd Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival.

The LGBTQ+ film will be available to stream on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play/YouTube, Tubi, Pluto, and other VOD platforms towards the end of this month.

Caro spoke about the creative process behind the film, explaining that he drew on his own queer upbringing and experiences in early adulthood.

A Few Feet Away stems from the experiences my friends and I had in our early twenties, exploring sex and intimacy through the anonymity of the internet. It captures a time when we were stepping into the adult world for the first time, with nothing but our phones and desires to guide us,” said the director.

“Conflict no longer lies in accepting one’s sexuality” – Director Tadeo Pestaño Caro on what viewers can expect from A Few Feet Away

Drawing attention to the complexities of being a gay man navigating the dating sphere, he added: “From this new sex-affective logic that shapes our generation emerges a coming-of-age story where the conflict no longer lies in accepting one’s sexuality within a heteronormative society, but in affirming one’s identity in a world where blocking or cancelling someone is always just a tap away.”
