Watch | ‘Sound of Music’ UK theatre cast create epic Lady Gaga tribute

By Troy Nankervis

Ahead of Lady Gaga’s performance at the Oscars over the weekend, the cast of the UK production of ‘The Sound of Music’ has created an amazing medley of her songs that will bring a smile to your face.

Featuring musical theatre inspired renditions of ‘Edge of Glory’, ‘Judas’, ‘Paparazzi’, ‘The Sound of Gaga’ the video was reportedly produced last year and had been viewed almost 100,000 times in the 24 hours since hitting YouTube, writes Gay Star News.

Director of the video Anton Belmonté said it was only ever intended to remain within the cast, but had somehow been leaked online. “It wasn’t supposed to be released. I’m not sure how it has actually come out as it wasn’t initially approved by the Rodgers and Hammerstein estate,” he said.

“‘I’m shocked how it suddenly appeared online yesterday.”

Belmonte added the low budget production of the video was very much a collaborative exercise. “It was a real group effort between myself, Danielle, [musical director] Jeremy Wootton, and [producer] Chris Clegg to get it to all come together,” he said.

“I’ve always loved the show since I was a kid, and I like Lady Gaga. I’m so shocked by how much people are loving our tribute!”

One very special fan has also lent her praise to the clip, with Lady Gaga herself also tweeting to say how much she loved the clip.

“This is just so amazing, the instrumentation and the performers! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!” she wrote.
