By Josh Haggis

Mario Lopez has explained how he manages to be a supporter of same-sex marriage despite his religious views.

When discussing his appearance at this month’s Miami Pride, Lopez, 41, said that he as family members that happen to be gay and insisted that his beliefs as a Catholic have no impact on his support for the LGBT community.

“I’m supportive of events like these and supportive for a lot of the issues that gay pride stands for,” Lopez told The Miami Herald.

“A couple of cousins of mine, who I’m very close to, happen to be gay. Just to rally with them and the family. I’m very close with them and like to support when I can.”

He continued: “Like the Pope said, ‘Who am I to judge?’ If the pope says that, who am I to judge anyone?’ he explained. “I feel at the end of the day, if you come from a place of love you can’t go wrong.

“I always try to come from a place of love with people and treat all people with respect. That’s just my approach towards folks,” he added.

Cheers, Mario! To be honest, we’re just as supportive of your right to take off your shirt at any possible occasion:
