Emma Roberts has thanked the gay community for turning a recent video of her trip to the beach into a hilarious viral meme.

The actress, whose regular camp-as-tits turns in Ryan Murphy shows including American Horror Story and Scream Queens have cemented her place in the hearts of many gay men, found herself going viral this week after she shared a coy video of herself on the beach to Instagram.

Set to Lana Del Rey’s 2019 track ‘Happiness Is a Butterfly’, the clip of Emma coquettishly looking directly into the camera, adjusting her hair and giggling quickly drew the eye of social media users, who began re-sharing the footage with their own hilarious captions.

Twitter user @Philip_Ellis joked that the captivatingly dreamy footage looked like “The movie detective’s dead wife in a home video,” while another, @ToddR_, quipped: “Me trying to get the barista at Pret to give me my coffee for free.”

Another, @umar922_, said of the flirtatious clip, “Me right before asking my manager if I can go home 6 hrs early,” while @getwellsoongeri wrote: “me looking at myself on teams before everybody else logs into the meeting.

Twitter user @marlencha1992 added simply: “Me after someone repeats themselves for the 3rd time and I still don’t hear what they said.”

It didn’t take long for Roberts to spot the memes, retweeting one on Twitter before sharing another on her Instagram story.

In a tongue-in-cheek comment, the 30-year-old actress – who appeared as a guest judge on the most recent episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6 – took the opportunity to thank the gay community for all the meme love, writing “thank you gays”, before adding in incredibly deadpan style “and whoever else.”

No Emma, thank YOU.
