Attitude’s ultimate Billie Piper playlist

By Will Stroude

Who can forget that long before she became one of Britain’s best-loved actresses as Rose Tyler and Belle de Jour, Billie Piper was the British answer to Britney. The all-singing, all-dancing, all-smiling teen sensation racked up seven glorious hit singles and three UK Number Ones between 1998 and 2000 – a figure that quite rightly puts her behind only Cheryl, Rita and Jess Glynne in terms of British solo female chart-toppers.

Sadly, the flame that burns brightest burns shortest, and after burning out herself and facing struggles away from the spotlight, Billie’s all-too-brief pop career ended as quickly as it had started. But in honour of the Penny Dreadful star’s 33rd birthday today (September 22), we’re celebrating Billie before the age of The Doctor and making sure bona fide classics like Day and Night never go forgotten. So without further ado, here’s our ultimate Billie Piper playlist…

7. Something Deep Inside (2000, UK chart peak #4)

6. She Wants You (1998, #3)

5. Walk of Life (2000, #25)

4. Girlfriend (1998, #1)

3. Because We Want To (1998, #1)
