This German TV advert has a moving gay twist

This heart-warming German advert may just leave something in your eye. The video was released by Deutsche Bahn (DB), Germany's state-owned rail company, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary of their high-speed and long-distance InterCity Express (ICE) trains. Naturally, as the European Championships are coming up what better way to promote their new birthday campaign than with a football theme advert? According to Gay Star News, the advert was released yesterday (June 1) and German tabloid BLID have described the advert as "taboo-breaking". The video features one man who is seen travelling across the country to support his football team and one player in particular. German Football Ad 2 In his flat he has a photo of the player and himself, he cheers for the player and empathizes with the player when he's injured. As the video progresses, the two men rush to meet one another and it turns out the two are boyfriends. German Football Ad 3 The player meets his boyfriend at a train station and the pair embrace before walking down the platform holding hands. Bertold Huber, the chairman for Deutsche Bahn's traffic and transport committee said, "For the ICE's 25th birthday,we want to show how it connects more than train stations and cities."
