It has been such a great year for the LGBT+ community.

We saw Australia legalise same-sex marriage, the success of gay cinema and a number of high-profile celebs come out and join the LGBT community.

Australia legalising same-sex marriage


Australia legalised same-sex marriage December 7 following the results of a national postal survey which saw 61% of the population vote for equal marriage (Click here to read more).

Success of queer cinema

2017 has been a huge year for queer cinema as it saw acclaimed gay films Moonlight and Call Me By Your Name earn nominations and take home major awards.

This year also saw eagerly anticipated God's Own Country and Beach Rats hit the cinema too.

Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black getting married

Numerous couples tied the knot in 2017, but we have to celebrate Olympic swimmer Tom Daley and screenwriter Dustin Lane Black's wedding. The pair married in Devon in May and shared a YouTube video of their big day, while also donating any revenue made from the short film to the LGBT+ Switchboard and It Gets Better charities (Click here to read more).

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first public appearance at HIV clinic

Anti-LGBT republican forced to resign over gay sex allegations

Anti-LGBT Republican Wes Goodman was forced to resign after he was caught having sex with another man in his office. Goodman issued a statement which saw him apologise shortly before his social media accounts were taken offline (Click here to read more).
