A TV advert featuring a gay Father Christmas has been unveiled in Norway.

The clip from Posten, the Norwegian Postal Service, depicts the developing relationship between Santa Claus and another older man, who he visits each Christmas over a number of years.

Eventually, the loved-up pair are seen sharing a kiss.

“l’ll be back next year”

Exploring themes of loneliness and long-distance relationships (“I’ll be back next year,” Santa tells his boyfriend during one emotional moment), the almost four-minute video has amassed almost 90k views and 2.7k likes in under a week.

‘When Harry Met Santa’ celebrates 50 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality (since 1972) in Norway.

The video was created by the Norwegian ad agency POL.

It follows a busy news year for LGBTQs in adverts, from Cadbury’s Creme Egg‘s same-sex kiss to an arm-wrestling Gus Kenworthy promoting a cannabis-infused soft drink.
