The eagerly-anticipiated reboot of Queer as Folk is set to explode on to screens in the US next month, and now viewers in the UK and around the world have received confirmation of when they too will be able to head back to Babylon.

Queer as Folk will premiere in the UK on streaming service Starzplay on Friday 1 July, just over three weeks after it arrives in the US on Peacock on 9 June.

Viewers will be able to enjoy two episodes each week from the eight-episode series, which was inspired by Russell T Davies’ 1999 series about a group of gay friends living in Manchester and its 2000 US remake, which was set in Pittburgh and ran for five seasons.

Starzplay will also air Queer as Folk in Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Latin America, Luxembourg, Spain, Netherlands and the Nordics, with the show arriving in those territories on Friday 31 July.

“The original Queer as Folk truly broke new ground in the television space and that innovative spirit perfectly aligns with the STARZPLAY slate of bold, unique, and complex storytelling,” said Jeff Cooke, Senior Vice President of Programming, International Networks.

“We are elated to be the exclusive global home of the reimagined 2022 Queer as Folk and look forward to our audiences devouring each episode this summer.”

Queer as Folk stars Devin Way as Brodie, a charming and sometimes chaotic commitment-phobe who finds a reason to stay in New Orleans after tragedy rocks his community.

Fin Argus will play Mingus, a cocky high schooler whose confidence belies their lack of real world experience, while Jesse James Keitel will play Ruthie, a trans, semi-reformed party girl who is struggling to grow up.

CG plays Shar, a non-binary professor navigating the rocky transition from punk to parenthood, and Johnny Sibilly will play Noah, a successful lawyer who is not as put together as he seems.

Rounding out the main cast is Special star Ryan O’Connell, who also serves as a writer and co-executive producer on the series. O’Connell will play Julian (he/him), a pop culture nerd with cerebral palsy who is more than ready for some independence.

Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall, Yellowjackets actor Juliette Lewis, Work In Progress star Armand Fields, America’s Next Top Model winner Nyle Dimarco and The White Lotus‘s Lukas Gage are all set to appear in guest roles.

Queer as Folk premieres in the US on Thursday 9 June on Peacock, and in the UK on Friday 1 July on Starzplay.
