Pete Buttigieg says he doesn’t have a problem with Mike Pence’s religion.
The openly gay mayor of South Bend, Indiana, looks set to have a successful 2020 Presidential campaign and although he has come head-to-head against the renowned homophobic Vice President, Buttigieg has admitted he isn’t interested in feuding with Pence.
While speaking to Ellen on her show – which is set to air today (April 12) – he said: “I’m not critical of his faith; I’m critical of bad policies.
“I don’t have a problem with religion. I’m religious, too.
“I have a problem with religion being used as a justification to harm people and especially in the LGBTQ community."
“But if he wanted to clear this up," he continued. "He could come out today and say he’s changed his mind, that it shouldn’t be legal to discriminate against anybody in this country for who they are."
