Mum of two bi teens responds brilliantly to anti-gay graffiti

2015-08-09
New Jersey-based Erin Kennedy DeLong and husband Joe have two bisexual daughters: 17-year-old Miranda and 14-year-old Emily. When someone spray-painted the words “I’m Gay” on their garage door, these incredible parents decided it was an opportunity to make a statement. They didn’t simply paint over the graffiti, but covered their garage door with rainbow-coloured panels to show their support for their daughters, as well as their daughters' LGBT friends. She also posted photos on STOP-Homophobia’s Facebook page and wrote, “Someone decided to vandalise our house last week, in an attempt to shame/harass our two bisexual daughters. We decided that some announcements deserve more than gray spray paint.” https://twitter.com/WipeHomophobia/status/627964952578539520/ Commenting on the response to their family’s story, DeLong later posted, “Oh my goodness... We are absolutely OVERWHELMED by the support everyone has shown! Thank you everyone! It's easy to be a good parent when you have great kids, and ours are the best.” Aww. What an amazing family!
