Lyft driver kicks out gay couple after they shared a short kiss

The couple have received a full refund from the car hire company

A Lyft driver is facing allegations of homophobia after kicking a gay couple out after they shared a “short kiss”.

Ben Martella and Alec Jansen ordered the driver to pick them up at Butler University and take them to Broad Ripple, in Indiana, but they didn’t end up reaching their destination, Indy Star reported.

After sharing a quick peck on the lips, the driver told them to get out claiming he cannot “have that in my car”.

Martella said: “He looked in his rear view mirror. He was yelling.

“I was really upset. It was a big reaction for such a small display of affection between two guys.”

His partner added: “We gave each other a short kiss on the lips. I was just surprised the whole thing happened. It just didn’t seem it was real.”

After the incident, Martella tweeted: “Was just discriminated against by Lyft my ride kicked me out because I was kissing another man.

“He kicked us out and I still have to pay. Disappointed and feel unfairly judged by this service.”

Luckily Lyft replied and refunded their money.
