'Love, Simon' TV spin-off series 'Love, Victor' gets first preview trailer - WATCH

After being booted from Disney+ to Hulu, 'Love Victor' finally has a premiere date.

Prepare for another slice of the wholesome gay goodness you first saw in 2018's Love, Simon, because the first preview trailer for the heartwarming teen film's TV spin-off, Love, Victor, is here.

The upcoming series stars Michael Cimino as a new kid in town at Creekwood High, who's "on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation."

The newly-released teaser trailer sees things get steamy - quite literally - as Victor meets a handsome barista in a coffee shop, and gives us plenty of reason to get excited ahead of the show's US premiere on streaming service Hulu on 19 June.

Becky Albertalli, author of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, upon which Love, Simon was based said in a statement: "I can’t tell you how much I adore this funny, romantic, heartfelt gem of a show."

"I’m so grateful to the cast, production team, and execs who have been so passionate about this story from day one."

Love, Victor's preview trailer release comes after it emerged earlier this year that the series had been transferred to Hulu from Disney's newly-launched streaming service Disney+ over its supposed 'adult themes'.

The move sparked concern that LGBTQ content was effectively being censored from Disney+, though the corporation was defended by Albertalli herself, who insisted the move was motoviated by scenes of underage drinking rather than same-sex kisses.

“There’s been speculation as for the cause of the platform switch", Albertalli wrote on Twitter at the time.

"For what it’s worth, it’s not based on the show featuring a gay teen love story. Disney knew what it was when they got it. There are mature themes such as teen drinking, etc. that led to the switch.

“That said, I completely get why many of us are wary of phrases like ‘mature content’ and ‘adult themes.’ They’re so often used as homophobic dog whistles, and these concerns are so valid.

"But in this case, I do hope you’ll give Disney the benefit of the doubt."

Whatever the true reason for the move, the unfortunate consequence for UK viewers is that Hulu isn't available on these shores, unlike Disney+. Here's hoping the show eventually finds its way on to a more global platform so more can enjoy Victor's exploits...

Love, Victor premieres on 19 June on Hulu in the US.
