'Love, Simon' star delivers heartfelt speech after winning 'Best Kiss' at MTV Movie Awards

Keiynan Lonsdale just gave us all the feels.

2018-06-19

Love, Simon's uplifting run of success continued at the MTV Movie Awards on Monday (June 18) as the gay teen drama's stars Nick Robinson and Keiynan Lonsdale picked up theaward for 'Best Kiss'

The actors beat off competition from the stars of Riverdale and Stranger Things to be named the best lip-lockers of the last 12 months, becoming the second same-sex kiss to take home the prize after Moonlight's Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerome picked up the same award last year.

In moving scenes, Lonsdalde told LGBT+ kids to "live their dreams" as he accepted the award in a long skirt and bejewelled headgear.

The Flash star, 26, came out publicly as queer last year, later admitting that working on Love, Simon had inspired him to be open about his sexuality.

"I just want to say to every kid, you can live your dreams and wear dresses,” Lonsdale told the audience at Barker Hangar in Sonata Monic.

"You can live your dreams and kiss the one that you love, no matter what gender they are. You can live your dreams and you can believe in magic.

"You can live your dreams and you can be yourself."

Of course, now seems like a good time to relive that award-winning kiss...
