Louis Walsh blasts Girls Aloud: 'Nadine was the only real singer'

2016-06-09
Looks like Louis Walsh has been going on a bit of a rampage. Making an appearance on Kate Thornton's Paper Cuts on BBC Radio 2, the newly-reinstated X Factor judge hit out at Girls Aloud, Take That and even X Factor in one fell swoop. Let's break it down. While Walsh's long-running feud with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has always been heated, the 63-year-old hit out at the rest of her former Girls Aloud bandmates, who've often criticised his management of the group for a brief spell back in 2002. Addressing Cheryl's accusations that he never gave them any time, Walsh said: "I contacted them as much as I could but they didn't like each other and Nadine was the only real singer there." "I didn't give them a lot of my time but they didn't give me time and they didn't even like each other." "It was never going to work because I said Nadine was the best singer and she was. She was the voice of Girls Aloud." He added: "She should have married the footballer. Look at Victoria Beckham, it worked for her. And Louise [Redknapp]... and wasn't Cheryl married to a footballer?" louis walsh   But Girls Aloud isn't the only band Walsh attacked during the interview - he also threw shade at Take That while revealing what makes a great boyband. "If you've got two great singers and three okay singers, you get away with it. That's all you need - look at Take That," he said "Gary and Rob, they were Take That," he added. "The other three were the other three. I forget their names! But that's the way it is." landscape-music-take-that-tour-announcement-2010 Despite being re-hired by Simon Cowell for the upcoming series of The X factor, the ITV singing competition wasn't safe from Louis's barbs either. "Rating weren't good, so I knew watching the show it wasn't going to work," he said of last year's series. "I called Simon really late that night, and said, 'You've messed with it too much. It's not working.' He didn't say anything for a second, and then said, 'Maybe you're right.'" He also revealed how he and X Factor co-judge Sharon Osbourne, who recently came out as bisexual, disliked each other when they first met. "She didn't like me at the start," he says. "We became really good friends as the series went on and on and on. I got to really like her - we're best friends now!" Copyright: THAMES TV/SYCO Oh Louis, it's good to have you back...
