Lance Bass has said the music industry is ‘still very homophobic’.
The *NSYNC singer came out in 2006 – four years after the band went on hiatus – and married his boyfriend Michael Turchin in December 2014 in Los Angeles after two and a half years of dating.
Despite a number of openly gay and queer artists dominating the charts these days – including Olly Alexander, Sam Smith, MNEK and Janelle Monae – Bass argued that the music industry in still homophobic.
He told Yahoo: “I mean, the music industry is still very homophobic; you still have a lot of those record heads that are dinosaurs, and they’re just going to really have this homophobic look at us.
“But times are definitely changing. Just look at the last five years, all these LGBTQ artists that are out and proud – and not coming out after they’re famous, but before they’re famous.
“That never would’ve happened 10 years ago.”
