Jonathan Bailey has revealed what his “nana” makes of his new play Cock, in which he’ll be starring with Taron Egerton.

Bridgerton star Johnny will play John in the revival of Mike Bartlett’s 2009 play, about a man who identifies as gay but meets a woman he is attracted to. Taron will play John’s boyfriend, M.

The play runs from 5 March 2022 at London’s Ambassadors Theatre for three months.

“Provocative and hilarious!”

During a recent appearance on The One Show to discuss the project with Taron, Johnny said of his grandmother: “Actually my nana – who I’m sure is watching now; hello nana! –  she listened to a recording of that said play…”

Former Attitude cover star Johnny continued: “She gets approval of everything I do and she really enjoyed it.

“She said it was provocative and hilarious. So we’re good to go!”

The star furthermore called the play a “fascinating study of human sexuality.”

He added of the main two characters: “It’s quite a complicated relationship and they go on a break. And in that break, John meets a woman. It’s about how that brings up complications in their understanding of each other.”

Johnny’s other stage roles include Company and King Lear. His TV roles include Doctor Who and Broadchurch.
