In a year that's seen LGBTQ and performing arts spaces grapple with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, two RuPaul's Drag Race legends are combining forces to ensure fans still get their festive drag fill in 2020.
The queens in question, season five winner Jinkx Monsoon and All Stars 4 front-runner-turned sword-faller BenDeLaCreme, have spent the last two years sleighing the holiday season with their acclaimed holiday shows To Jesus, Thanks for Everything, and All I Want for Christmas Is Attention, and this year they're taking their brand new show digital for the first time.
Featuring 60 musical minutes of comedy, song and dance, The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Special is now available to watch from the socially-distanced safety of your own home on Soho Theatre on Demand now.
Billed as "equal parts scrilegious and sweet", The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Special "is the story of two queens who set out to create a classic Christmas TV variety show, but just can’t agree on how."
"With the help of a chorus of dancers and DeLa’s deceased grandmother – whose spirit lives on in a glass of eggnog – DeLa tries her hardest to uphold the cheery Christmas traditions of her childhood, while Jinkx is much more interested in bawdy jokes and boozy libations," a synopsis reads.
"As they sing and dance their way through numbers about everything from St. Nick to the Christ child, the tension between them mounts, culminating in an all-out battle for control of the show.
DeLa, who directed and co-wrote the show, says: "If there’s anybody who knows how to adapt with the times and create art while facing adversity, it’s drag queens."
"I have been producing and directing theatre for myself and other queer artists for years, and getting to make my first foray into producing and directing film for The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Special has been an experience I will never forget."
The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Special is available for 48-hour streaming on Soho Theatre On Demand for £10.
