Jesy Nelson has said she will "never rule out" dating women in a new interview.

The singer has had a string of high-profile romantic relationships with men, including Chris Clark and Harry James, since shooting to fame on The X Factor in 2011.

However, former Little Mix star Jesy - who is currently gearing up to release her debut solo single 'Boys' - says she "wishes" she liked women.

"I love muscles"

“I wish I liked women, I really do," she said in the interview with The Guardian, published Saturday, before explaining that her sister Jade, who identifies as gay, advised her to explore her sexuality.

The 30-year-old continued: "I said that to my sister the other day because she’s gay. I said: ‘Jade, I wish I loved women,’ and she was like: ‘Well, just try it – you never know.’ And I said: ‘No, I love men too much.’"

Continued Jesy: "I just love the way men smell, I love muscles, and women don’t have that, do they?”

When it was pointed out 'some women' have muscles, Jesy replied: "Ha ha! I’ll never rule it out, I’ll just say that.”

After scoring number one hits like 'Black Magic' and 'Sweet Melody', Jesy quit Little Mix last November, leaving Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall to continue on as a trio.

In May, Jesy told Cosmopolitan that the 'Sweet Melody' video shoot was the "breaking point" in her decision to leave the band, saying: "We’d been in lockdown, and it was the first time I could have a break and be at home around people that I love. It was the happiest I’d ever felt and I didn’t realise that until I went back to work. I immediately became a different person.

“I had anxiety. Whenever we have a music video I put an enormous amount of pressure on myself to try and lose weight. I have a fear of looking back on the camera. If I don’t like what I see, I find it so hard to be in front of the camera and feel amazing and perform."
