'Grey's' star to return after homophobic slur allegations

ISAIAH WASHINGTONGrey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington will return to the show towards the end of the current season. The actor was fired from the ABC series in 2007 after it was alleged he used a homophobic slur during an argument on set and later at the Golden Globes. He apologised for his behaviour, before taking a break from acting. Washington will appear in one episode as the show prepares to bid farewell to character Cristina Yang, played by Sandra Oh. His character Preston Burke was romantically involved with Cristina, and writers said that his return is a vital part of Cristina's exit. Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes said of Washington's return: "It's important to me that Cristina's journey unfolds exactly as it should. "Burke is vital to that journey - he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang." Grey's Anatomy airs on ABC in the US and on Sky Living in the UK. > ‘Sherlock’ star Andrew Scott opens up about coming out > ‘Birds of a Feather’ renewed for second series on ITV
