Greg Berlanti will be producing a Green Lantern series for HBO Max.

The Love, Simon filmmaker is known for bringing to live the DC Universe on the small screen – better known as the Arrowverse – thanks to the success of the flagship show, Arrow.

And now, the producer and director has teamed up with HBO Max to develop a series based around the classic DC comic book characters – as well as overseeing a show based on DC’s Strange Adventures, according to Collider.

In a statement, Berlanti promised the series would be the ‘biggest DC show ever made’.

He said: “Both of these original DC properties we’ll be creating for HBO Max will be unlike anything seen on television.

“An anthology series of cautionary tales set in a world where superpowers exist, and, in what promises to be our biggest DC show ever made, we will be going to space with a Green Lantern television series, but I can’t reveal any more about that just yet.”

The story of the Green Lantern was previously adapted into a critically slammed box office flop starring Ryan Reynolds.

Back in 2012, DC reintroduced the original Green Lantern character, Alan Scott, and confirmed he was to be gay and in a same-sex relationship.

We just hope Berlanti keeps to the comic book storyline.
