In the heartwarming conclusion to the story of Fezco the dog, he has now been adopted by a gay couple and has been renamed, Oscar.

The pooch was cruelly abandoned by his previous owners who believed he was ‘gay’ after he humped another male dog, which is very normal behaviour for dogs.

The dog formerly known as Fezco has been renamed after gay playwright Oscar Wilde.

“We can do something about this”

Steve Nicholas and his partner, John, have been together for 30 years and live in the Charlotte area of North Carolina. They adopted Oscar after seeing a news report about the dog being abandoned.

“It’s just such a silly reason to turn in a dog,” says Steve. “We just thought it would make sense for the gay dog to be adopted by a loving gay family.”

He told WCCB: “We’ve been subject to that kind of bigotry and ignorance throughout our lives together, and we couldn’t always do anything about it. We looked at each other and said, we can do something about this.”

Dr. William Pressly of the Pressly Animal Hospital reiterated that all dogs hump other dogs adding, “It’s a dominance thing and a play thing”. It’s nothing to do with a dog’s sexuality.

Oscar is to be treated by Dr. Pressly for heartworms and to be neutered.
