Fifth Harmony's Camila Cabello quits group - and the shade is real
Fifth Harmony have announced that Camila Cabello has left with band with immediate effect.
The US girl group broke the news on Twitter late last night (December 18), revealing that they were only made aware of the 19-year-old singer's decision - which came the same day her contractual obligations with the band ended - after being informed "via her representatives".
"After four and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well," the band's remaining members Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui said in a statement, before confirming that they would continue on as a foursome.
"We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony as well as our solo endeavours. We are excited for the future, and can't wait to see what the new year brings".
Cabello's abrupt departure comes after months of rumours about fractured relations within the group, which was brought together during the second season of The X Factor USA back in 2016, before finding international success with hit singles including 'Worth It' and 'Work From Home'.
Over the last twelve months however, Cabello has fuelled rumours of an impending split after beginning to establish herself as a solo artist after releasing duets with the likes of Shawn Mendes and US rapper Machine Gun Kelly.
Despite the news, Fifth Harmony confirmed earlier this month that they are working on their third studio album. The record will serve as the the follow-up to this year's LP 7/27, named after the date the group were formed.
It remains left to be seens how Fifth Harmony will fare as a foursome (even the Spice Girls didn't last too much longer), but after that pointed "representatives" comment, we wouldn't surprised to see that the number 18/12 emblazoned across the next record.
Sadly, it seems that despite all those hot construction workers at their disposal, they couldn't build a bridge...
