Elon Musk’s daughter has filed to legally change her name saying she doesn't want to be related to her father "in any way, shape form".
In a request filed in Los Angeles in April, the 18-year-old trans woman asked for a new birth certificate as well in line with her gender identity.
"I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form," the documents read, as reported by Reuters.
Musk’s daughter's new name was redacted from public view on the online documents. Both parties are yet to comment on the rift.
Her mother is Canadian author Justine Wilson who was married to Elon from 2000 to 2008 when she filed for divorce. She has five children with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.
Musk, 50, also has two children with singer Grimes with whom he has an on-and-off relationship.
Wilson tweeted on Monday (20 June) that she was "very proud" of her daughter, seemingly in relation to her child’s decision to sever ties with her father.
"I had a weird childhood," my 18 year old said to me. "I can't believe I'm as normal-seeming as I am."— Justine Musk (@justinemusk) June 20, 2022
I said, "I'm very proud of you."
"I'm proud of myself!"
On Father's Day (19 June), the tech billionaire tweeted that he loves all his children "so much."
However, Musk has previously been criticised for a 2020 tweet that read: "I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic [sic] nightmare."

Musk is also under scrutiny for seeming to support Ron DeSantis, Florida's Republican governor who introduced the 'Don't Say Gay, Don't Say Trans' bill which is now being replicated across the United States.
Just this month DeSantis ordered gender-affirming healthcare to be banned for Medicaid recipients of all ages.
The Attitude July/August issue is out now.
