Chloe Grace Moretz is going to expose the “realities” of gay conversion therapy.

The actress is starring in the new conversion therapy film The Miseducation of Cameron Post – which is out in UK cinemas today (September 7) – and now Moretz revealed shooting the film “started something” in her.

Now, the Kick-Ass star and her mother and brother are planning a new docuseries which will expose the harsh truths of what happens in a gay conversion therapy camp.

She told PinkNews: “[This movie] started something within me – I cared so much about the cause of overturning conversion therapy in America that I have my own docuseries that I just sold to a major company.

“My mother, my brother and I are going to be going into these camps in America and exposing the realities [of gay conversion therapy].”

Gay conversion therapy has been widely slammed around the world after it was revealed the practice has been known to use methods such as electroshock therapy and nausea-inducing drugs.

Moretz’ new movie – which is based on the 2012 novel of the same name by Emily M. Danfort - follows Cameron Post (Moretz) who gets caught having sex with the school prom queen.

She is then sent away to a gay conversion therapy camp by her aunt and uncle but she makes friends with Adam and Jane and the three navigate their time at the camp.

Post is told she has to “overcome her struggle” with the “sin of same-sex attraction” while at the God’s Promise camp.
