British Vogue editor Edward Enninful announces marriage to Alec Maxwell

Rihanna, Naomi Campbell and Idris Elba were among guests at the fashion journalist's wedding.

British Vogue‘s Editor-in-Chief, Edward Enninful, has revealed he married his long-term partner, Alec Maxwell, three weeks ago.

Posting on his Instagram on Thursday (17 March) Enninful shared a couple of snaps that showed Rihanna in attendance, while Naomi Campbell, Karlie Kloss and Idris Elba were also present. 

In the caption, he said that the special occasion had happened three weeks ago “before the world turned on its head again,” referencing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The greatest personal joy I have ever known”

He continued: “I was lucky enough to experience the greatest personal joy I have ever known. I got married to my long term partner Alec Maxwell”

The post also revealed that the wedding took place at Longleat House in Wiltshire. Alice Smith, Celeste were among those who performed live while DJ Fat Tony also provided entertainment.

Burberry, Alexander McQueen, and Emilia Wickstead were listed under Dressing and Charlotte Tilbury for Make Up. 

Many a celeb congratulated the happy couple in the comments. 

Designer Marc Jacobs said: “A beautiful evening and an amazing celebration of two of the finest men I know!”.

Naomi Campbell wrote: “What an honour and joy to be your witness to your beautiful nuptials, it truly was like a fairy tale, the energy and happiness for you both was truly magical!! Thank you for asking me to be part of your fairytale wedding of the year.”

Enninful was awarded an OBE in 2016 for services to fashion before making history in 2018 as British Vogue‘s first male editor. He was also named Attitude‘s Man of the Year for 2018. 

In 2020, he was appointed as Vogue‘s first-ever European editorial director.

At 18, he was the fashion director of i-D magazine, before becoming contributing editor of Italian and American Vogue.
