Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a video posted to social media on Friday (27 March) the prime minster confirmed he had developed mild symptoms and was self-isolating at home after testing positive for the virus.

Tests are currently being offered to the public only in the serious cases, and are not being offered regularly to frontline NHS workers treating those with coronavirus.

Sharing his video message, Johnson wrote: "Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.

"I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus.

"Together we will beat this."
