Boris Johnson has thanked the LGB Alliance for their “incredible hard work” in a letter.

The UK Prime Minister expressed the sentiment via a No10 communications unit-written note to the group on Wednesday.

According to the Alliance, the PM was invited to their first conference yesterday [21 October 2021] in London’s Queen Elizabeth II Centre, but he declined due to his schedule.

“Ground-breaking event”

The letter to co-founders Bev Jackson and Kate Harris and written by the No10 communications unit’s Mandy Godridge, reads: “The Prime Minister is delighted to learn of this ground-breaking event.

“Unfortunately, it will not be possible for [him] to attend, due to pressures on his diary.

“However, on his behalf, I would like to thank the LGB Alliance for their incredible hard work and send my best wishes for a successful conference.”

The PM’s spokesman added of the letter: “The Government is clear that biology matters and there are different health needs between the sexes.

“We are clear that all transgender people should be treated with dignity and respect.”

Sharing the letter, an LGB Alliance rep said on Twitter: “We appreciate the support of MPs and peers from all parties.”

Activists protested outside the Centre during the conference, reportedly shouting: “Trans rights are human rights.”

In April, the LGB Alliance was granted charitable status by The Charity Commission, sparking outrage.

The group, which was founded in 2019 purportedly to “advance the interests of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals”, has publicly campaigned against reforming the Gender Recognition Act to make it easier for trans people to gain legal recognition and describes the affirmation of transgender children by charities and medical professionals as “a form of conversion therapy.”

On its website, the group stateed they oppose trans women being admitted “into lesbian spaces” as well as trans men being admitted “into gay men’s spaces”.
