As global anti-racism demonstrations continue around the world in the wake of George Floyd's killing at the hands of police in the US, a peaceful protests dedicated to Black trans issues will take place in London this weekend.

London Trans+ Pride has announced a march on Downing Street this Saturday (27 June) in protest at reports the government is set to scrap plans to amend the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) to make it easier for transgender people to self-identify.

The demonstration will also highlight the disproportionate levels of violence and suicide experienced by Black trans people both in the UK and around the world.

Announcing Saturday's protest on Instagram, London Trans+ Pride wrote: "ALL black lives matter, black trans lives need to be valued.

The march is set to begin at Wellington Arch at 2pm as those in attendance make their way towards Downing Street for approximately 3pm.

Those attending are encouraged to wear and bring flowers, and also to wear masks as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
