Apple criticised over claims Russian version of Siri is homophobic

2015-04-15
The Russian-language version of Apple's Siri has been accused of being homophobic after some iPhone users received questionable responses from their phones when asking about gay related topics. Siri When asked whether gay marriage is normal, the sassy voice-activated guide shoots back with a series of replies that include:
"You are so rude." "I consider this emotion should be considered negative." "I will pretend I didn't hear that." "Now you are using obscenities and then you are going to eat bread with the same hands."
The BBC has also reported that using the term "lesbian" garnered similar responses from the female guide. Despite the homophobia claims, Apple - whose Chief Executive Tim Cook came out as gay last year - have insisted that the issue was simply a technical fault that has now been fully resolved.
