It’s been a while since we’ve had any American Horror Story on our screens (that wasn’t a repeat during lockdown) so understandably we’d kill for something new. Now we've got a brand new trailer that shows off some creepy monsters to whet our appetites!

The show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, has been dropping little hints here and there about season 10 – entitled Double Feature - which is split into two parts (hence the name), but this is our first proper look at what the cast will be facing.

The new series is scheduled to premiere in the US on FX on 25 August.

In the one-minute teaser trailer, we see a sharp-toothed mermaid and an alien standing back to back, aliens doing an autopsy, what could be some kind of mating between the mermaids and the aliens, and some black pill-like objects... We're also introduced to the titles of each of the two parts of this series - Part 1: Red Tide, and Part 2: Death Valley.

American Horror Story season 10 was originally meant to air late last year, but like so many things was pushed by the (no surprises here!) pandemic. Variety reports the season began filming in December and is now scheduled to air on 25 August.

Sadly, however, production has been halted due to a positive Covid case, which Variety understands was an actor on the show. Thankfully the production hadn’t had any issues before then and is only likely to be held up for a week (as per Variety)

It comes amid reports of a spike in Covid cases in Los Angeles County from the Delta variant of Coronavirus, with a new mask mandate coming into effect.

Returning to the cast is AHS mainstay Sarah Paulson, as well as Evan Peters. Joining them will be Macaulay Culkin, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, Finn Wittrock, and Kaia Gerber.

The spin-off series, American Horror Stories, is currently airing in the US on Hulu. It’s expected to appear in the UK on Disney+’s Star service. The anthology series will be 16 episodes long, each a stand-alone episode.

Showrunner, Ryan Murphy, has posted a photo of the cast of one episode, which includes, Kevin McHale (Glee), Charles Melton (Riverdale), Nico Greetham (The Prom) and Dyllón Burnside (Pose)
