Tom Daley and Matty Lee aren’t the only Team GB stars celebrating a gold medal victory at the Tokyo Olympics today: Adam Peaty is has also made waves as the first British swimmer in history to defend an Olympic title.

Adam, who burst onto the scene with gold in the men’s 100m breastroke at Rio 2016, repeated the feat in Tokyo on Monday (26 July), securing Great Britain’s first gold medal of the games with a time of 57.37 seconds.

After his Olympic debut in Rio, Adam appeared on the cover of Attitude back in 2017, where the sports star discussed his fearsome Olympic training regime and his childhood fear of water (yes, really).

“I used to go in [the water] with my mum, then crawl up her arm and do anything to get out of the water”, Adam revealed. “As a kid I didn’t even like having showers!”

Naturally, we couldn’t celebrate Adam becoming a double Olympic champion without a little trip down memory lane… Enjoy.
