If
you are going to be 'feline' lonely this Valentine’s Day, head to
Battersea Dogs & Cats Home for the charity’s one-off late-night
Cattery opening, where singles just might find their true love match.
The Feline Lonely Valentine’s Day event will match prospective owners
with a cat in need of a home, and it has distinct similarities to the
dating circuit. Just like matchmakers, Battersea’s Rehomers will
carefully pair people and cats, and both sides have
their own “profile”, with prospective owners’ covering everything from
their working hours to their likes and dislikes and level of cat
experience. Each cat has a personality profile outside its pen, covering
everything from where they would like to live to
their favourite toy, allowing visitors to see at a glance if they are a
perfect pair.
Operations Manager Philip Heron explains: “Our Rehomers truly are matchmakers. We want people to
forget the jokes about single cat ladies, as cats
genuinely are wonderful companions, especially if you live alone. They
are loving, gentle, and many older cats are happy to spend time alone
while you’re out and are delighted to see you when you get back. They
really are perfect partners.”
And who knows? A singles event with other like minded animal lovers could mean finding love on the night, as well as a new pet.
The event runs through the day until 8pm, but if you're unable to attend, you can also buy a Valentines’ Day treat for a
Battersea cat online, at http://www.battersea.org.uk, which the lucky feline will receive on 14th February. Bless!
