NBA LONDON - NY KNICKS TRIUMPH

The annual NBA game rolled into London town last night, setting the O2 Arena on fire with a show of great athleticism and razzmatazz. The New York Knicks took down the Detroit Pistons 102-87 in a comfortable victory. But this friendly was as much about the wild showbiz spectacle as anything else, with celebs coming out in their droves to celebrate the funnest, flashest sport on the planet. The buzz on court hung around Olympic star Carmelo Michael and rising rookie Iman Shumpert, whilst off it, people were going wild for Alexandra Burke (on God Save The Queen duty), Mischa B (half-time entertainment) and a host of sports stars more familiar to these shores: Greg Rusedski, Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira. The only big boo of the night was reserved for poor Ashley Cole, who doesn't seem capable of getting rid of the bad lad tag. Gay, former NBA star John Amaechi was enjoying the evening, laughing away as James Corden and Jack Whitehall, both awkward and thoroughly unathletic, had a shoot-out for all to see. Jack won, for the record.
