They may have shot to fame in much the same way, as
presenters on Channel 4’s hit series The Big Breakfast, but it’s fair to say
that Chris Evans and Denise Van Outen have taken very different career paths
since the 90s. Denise is now a regular on the West End scene and Chris, well
he’s still shouting at us every morning, except these days he does so through
the medium of radio. Renowned for his outspoken nature, Chris has been stirring
up trouble for Strictly’s blonde bombshell, Queen DVO.
Speaking last week, Chris reportedly claimed that the
Chicago star’s experience as a “professional singer/actress/dancer” gave her an
“unfair advantage” over her fellow contestants. He went on to say, "isn't it a story of aspiration from
the beginning, the seeds of learning whether you do or don't have two left
feet, to perhaps better yourself and becoming good if not better than you ever
thought you could be?"
Maybe Chris has a point but, come on, it’s a little bit late
in the day to be bringing this up.
Naturally, Denise hasn’t taken the comments lying down. She
wrote in her blog that a) Musical Theatre and ballroom dancing are vastly
different art forms and b) she’s only had minor dance numbers in her
performances, not one of them with a partner.
Either way, it’s clear to see that the Saturday night shaker
has put in the hours and has progressed significantly throughout the series.
