Saturday night’s
best-dressed entertainer takes our title for looking super sharp.
He’s far too
modest to say it, but the most gratifying element of the Gary Barlow as clothes
horse evolution must be is how unlikely a fashion icon the Take That lead man
was back in the early 1990s. Back then – a quick Google should rejog the memory
– Gary rocked a Billy Idol peroxide quiff, modelled the tight white tee not
seen outside of gay clubs and styled out that all important, edgy ear stud.
Nice.
Flash forward to
2012; 41-year-old Gary Barlow doesn’t so much rock as ooze utter class in his
sartorial selection. Whatever the occasion – the Queen’s Jubilee, The Olympics
Closing Ceremony, pretty much anchoring Saturday night television – Gary has
turned it on in incredible style cherry picking the best in British high end to
high street fashion from Vivienne Westwood to Topman and then going all out in
a Dolce & Gabbana three piece, Dermot be damned.
They say the
clothes maketh the man but it helps that the man also gives a weekly master
class in male grooming. Every Saturday night from now to Christmas, you can
expect to find Gary Barlow modelling just right stubble, a super sharp haircut
and seeming for all the world like this healthy, lightly tanned look took all
of ten minutes. It’s simple, stylish and hell, it’s downright sexy. GB, we
salute you!
