Loveable Oldham lad Nick Grimshaw is having a very good year. Earlier this year, our Grimmy was handed the biggest job in radio, taking over from Chris Moyles as the host of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

The announcement that Nick Grimshaw was to take over the highest profile gig on British radio was an occasion for air punching for anyone who loves an underdog. It didn’t go to Fearne Cotton, the obvious choice or Greg James, a blandish, safe pair of hands, who clearly relished the opportunity. And there is something of the underdog about Nick Grimshaw despite the fact that his Facebook friends list reads like all Grazia’s Christmases come at once. He counts Kate Moss, Pixie Geldof, Lily Allen, Harry Styles, Henry Holland and Alexa Chung among his bessies.

So here’s to you Grimmy, on a great year. Here’s a very special award, just for you.
