A LITTLE Q&A WE DID WITH STOOSHE
A LITTLE Q&A WE DID WITH STOOSHE
After first catching our attention with their rather risque 'Love Me' (or 'Fuck Me' if you're listening to it without young people around), Stooshe's second single, Black Heart, is quite literally all over our radio waves. We had a quick catch up with the ladies - just to say hello, and that.

So, what have been the best bits of your summer? Are you a big fan of the festival dates, or do you prefer the more intimate gigs?
Courtney: The best part of the summer is the festivals - we love them! It's always such a good vibe, so we don't class it as work!

What have been your best/worst gigs?
Karis: I don't think we have had a 'worst' gig; it would only have been a technical fault? Our best has got to be Wireless 2012, it was amazing to go back and have a crowd sing your songs back to you! But still got a couple more to go, so they may end up being top of the list!

So, we’re used to songs about bad boys, but Black Heart is pretty dark. Do you like bad boys?
Alexandra: Black Heart was written about experiences we've all had, so we could all relate to it. People have different perceptions of it's meaning, but it's just about falling in love with someone who isn't right for you.

And on that note – what can we expect from the album in October? Lots more feisty raps? Any sad ballads?
Karis: The album is very eclectic. We have a strong Motown influence throughout it, but it mainly speaks on events which are real to us and life.

What was it like supporting Nicki Minaj – were you starstruck?
Courtney: Supporting Nicki was amazing. Back last year, we said we'd love to support her so was overwhelming when we were able to. She's an amazing artist and show woman and we were privileged to meet her on the last date.

You’ve been compared to a lot of other girl bands. Who were your musical role models growing up?
Alexandra: We absolutely love the Spice Girls - they are a huge influence to us and we listened to them, as well as TLC, Destinys Child, En Vogue, The Supremes. Our influences and role models vary.

Who are your current favourite acts, and who do you think is underrated that we should be listening to (other than yourselves, obviously)?
Karis: We really love Etta Bond. She's an amazing new act who everyone needs to listen to! We also love the UK scene, like Wretch, Pro Green. It's nice the UK is doing so well.

If any of our readers have been living under a rock and don’t know who Stooshe are, how wouldyou describe yourselves in 3 words?
Courtney: Fun,Quirky and Crazy

So there you have it. Here is their single Black Heart, which is totally out on iTunes, and in shops, etc.
