Early in the morning of 28 June 1969, The Stonewall Inn in New York was raided by Police, a common occurrence at a venue that was part of the underground gay scene in Greenwich Village. Tired of these raids the patrons fought back and started what has become known as The Stonewall Riots and triggered the start of the gay rights movement.
