We've all got our vices, but some are undoubtedly perceived to be worse than others. The problem with cigarettes is that in one group it may be a big part of how you interact, while in another it makes you a social pariah.
However, it's national No Smoking Day, so if you're seen huddled outside the office desperately dragging on a roll-up, you're sure to be shot a few more dirty looks than usual. It's time to give up (at least for today).
But, if you need an excuse, science people at the University of Colorado have revealed that men who like men are more than twice as likely to smoke than their heterosexual counterparts and much less likely to quit. More than 80% of the gays they surveyed smoked daily and less than 30% were well-meaning in plans to kick the death-sticks.
It doesn't say why it's us particularly who love a smoke so much, but we can't help imagine someone somewhere making a joke about us liking to have things in our mouth.
