Sit back and let this team play their nasty tricks on you for a great, creepy night out.
There's a perception that scream-out-loud horror can only really be done on film but this team disprove it with a piece that uses the same simple formula as telling a ghost story around a fire: a well told tale draws you in until you get the shivers then delivers a nasty shock to make you jump out of your skin.
Here the hyped up audience, in a creepily redecorated theatre, concentrate in nervous anticipation on a dry lecture about ghosts. Three case studies are then enacted - a night watchman’s story, an account of a night time car breakdown and a dark tale of childbirth horror. Each eyewitness lulls you with the mundane details of their lives before their story scares the wits out of you thanks to a series of beautifully executed stage tricks and Nick Manning’s ingenious sound effects. Sometimes these cleverly designed and lit moments are low key - a child’s music box unexpectedly tinkling into life - and sometimes they're very spectacular, for instance... but we're asked at the end to keep the shows secrets so I won’t tell you much more except there’s plenty of twists and turns to shock you right until the end. I can’t get it out of my head!
Ignore the posturing of anyone who claims not to have been unnerved by this intense 90 minute show. Go and see for yourself. It's seriously creepy stuff.
